Friend Day with Tim Hightower

This Sunday, Tim Hightower of the Arizona Cardinals will be visiting Mountain View. He will be sharing his story of football, fun, and faith. This is a perfect opportunity to invite a friend to church that might not otherwise want to attend. On top of our three regular morning services, we have also addend an evening service at 5pm.

Tim Hightower was drafted in the 5th round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals. In his rookie season he scored 10 touchdowns (3 more in the playoffs) setting a Cardinals rookie record. He also scored the winning touchdown for the Cardinals in their last drive against the Philadelphia Eagles to win the game and send them to the Super Bowl to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tim has had highs and lows throughout his football career. He will be talking about how through it all he lives for the Lord.

A Heart to Serve

April 27, 2011 marked a dark and devastating day for residents in many southern states. Hundreds of tornados tore through the South, leaving a path of destruction that has never been seen before. Hundreds of lives were lost and so many families were left with nothing more than a concrete slab for a home.

Feeling a huge burden for those impacted By these devastating storms, we began reaching out, in an effort to raise funds to help. God began to open door after door, and before we knew it, a simple fundraising effort turned into a mission trip, with over 30 volunteers signed up to travel across the country, to Smithville, MS and the surrounding communities there.

Our volunteers reached out to their family, friends, co-workers, and employers, to collect donations of toiletries and baby items, as well financial support to fund the trip. We were met with an amazing outpouring of support and were able to charter a bus to take the team to MS, rather than driving vans and trailers.

In just one month, the Mississippi Disaster Relief Mission trip was organized! What an amazing God we serve and what a blessing to be used to spread His love to those who are hurting, and in need in Mississippi!
